This discussion thread is a follow up to the Webinar on Schmitta held on Sept 19 and available on the RAICA site under videos:
The thing that struck me most about today's webinar was this idea of domination and justice. I was reminded of the first creation story (one of two different ones btw) that talks about man having dominion over all the earth. Schmitta challenges that or at least calls us to take a break from it. I saw this with the birds an animals that returned to neighborhoods during COVID when we were forced to take a break. What I hadn't thought as much about was the justice part (forgiving debt, allowing all to gather etc.). This gives those that we dominate not just the earth and animals but the people that we dominate a chance or a break. It is this part that I find interesting and I am challenged to think of ways to do this in modern days. Any thoughts on this anyone?
